Starbucks is a committed WPE food donor partner that truly understands the impact of food recovery on community wellbeing. Through the Starbucks FoodShare Food Donation Program, Starbucks collects unsold, ready-to-eat food from its stores and delivers it to WPE for distribution. These contributions are particularly desirable and coveted by our recipients because they’re ready to eat “on the go” and require no cooking or preparation – They’re also delicious!
This partnership is unique for many reasons. One is that Starbucks uses their refrigerated fleet and delivers food directly to our location. Starbucks adheres to strict safety protocols to ensure all donations are fresh and safe for consumption, which makes our sorting process faster. On arrival, food is carefully sorted according to our nonprofit partner requests and distributed within hours, ensuring fresh, nutritious meals quickly reach those in need.
Additionally, Starbucks plays a pivotal role in WPE’s annual Star Program by displaying stars—each representing a specific item requested by an adult or child seeking support—in stores across Contra Costa County. Starbucks support was instrumental in our recent drive, which allowed us to deliver more than 11,000 toys and winter clothing items to neighbors and their families just before the holidays!
In addition to their favored food selections and community engagement, Starbucks staff are also regular volunteers at our food distribution center. Their integral support and commitment to alleviating hunger provides an exemplar of corporate social responsibility.
