Over the years, White Pony Express has been privileged to welcome California Climate Action Corps/AmeriCorps Fellows and College Corps Fellows to join our movement to reduce unnecessary waste and provide access to good food for ALL our neighbors. The Corps are part of California Volunteers, the state office responsible for mobilizing Californians to serve in their communities and address the most pressing challenges affecting the State.
Aniyah – CC Fellow
Aniyah studied at DVC and was inspired to join our team as a member of College Corps (CC) after witnessing her mother’s positive experience as a WPE volunteer. She’s always believed that good food should be accessible to everyone and was looking for a way to make positive changes in her community. According to Aniyah, WPE volunteers and staff genuinely live by the motto ‘all of us taking care of all of us’ and embody a generous and selfless spirit that’s impossible to miss.
Naditza – CCAC Fellow
Having served as a Sustainability Service Corps member with the Oakland Unified School District, Naditza was already familiar with the importance of food rescue. So far, Naditza’s favorite aspect of serving at WPE is the camaraderie that exists between staff and volunteers. Beginning on day 1, she noted a high degree of cohesiveness across all levels of the organization.
Anne – CCAC Fellow
After moving here from the Philippines, Anne was looking for volunteer opportunities that would enable her to engage and build relationships in a new community. What really struck her were the relationships WPE volunteers and staff have built over the last 11 years. Anne’s favorite part of the organization is the feeling that you matter and belong to something bigger than yourself.
Tyler – CCAC Fellow
Serving his local community has always been an important aspect of Tyler’s professional and personal life. In college, he led service trips to food banks, food kitchens, and nearby schools to teach and tutor students. There, he witnessed the importance of providing students quality food to achieve the best educational outcomes. Tyler is looking forward to increasing his exposure and learning in the field of sustainability.
