The Pleasanton chapter of the Young Men’s Service League (YMSL) dedicated an astounding 600 hours of service with White Pony Express (WPE) in 2024, including decorating and delivering more than 1,400 stars for the White Pony Express Star Program. Gwenn Ertoz, VP of Philanthropy for the Pleasanton Chapter, shared: “It meant so much to our young men to be part of such a phenomenal organization. Learning all about food insecurity in an area with so much abundance was quite eye-opening!”
With supporters like YMSL leaning in, WPE was able to play a critical role in Antioch High School’s 10th annual Warm for the Holidays event by providing hundreds of toys, warm clothing, stuffed animals, and winter care items. Trine Gallegos, media coordinator for Antioch High School, expressed her gratitude, saying: “For several years now, White Pony Express has been one of our most dedicated groups to help ensure we have plenty to offer these families.”
Sister agency, Trinity Center, and many other organizations that serve the unhoused also received dozens of sleeping bags and blankets during the cold season owing to the Star Program. Maureen O’Rourke, a dedicated volunteer at Trinity Center, shared her thoughts: “White Pony Express has been wonderful about sending clothing, toiletries, warm hats, and other necessities. These items have been a blessing for our members throughout the years.”
