Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Across Contra Costa County and the nation, we’re entering a moment of profound challenge—and yet, I write to you today not in despair, but with deep faith in what our community can do together. Proposed federal cuts to programs like CalFresh, WIC, and TEFAP could remove billions of meals from the tables of those who need them most. But at White Pony Express, we know something powerful: when one door closes, this community opens ten more. Every day, we see what’s possible when neighbors step up for neighbors—when surplus food is transformed into life-saving nourishment through collaboration, love, and ingenuity.
Despite losing nearly half a million dollars in anticipated federal support and facing unprecedented need, we remain undeterred. With your partnership, we will continue rescuing nutritious food, delivering it with love, and expanding our reach to those still waiting. We know the solution to hunger isn’t found in any single policy or pantry—it’s found in all of us. Through bold partnerships, shared innovation, and a steadfast commitment to caring for one another, we can turn this challenge into a model of community resilience.
Let’s keep building that model—
TOGETHER
. The need is great, but our capacity for compassion and creativity is greater still.
With gratitude and hope,
Eve Birge
CEO, White Pony Express
