Strength in Numbers WPE and the CFRC

White Pony Express and several key partners have formed the California Food Recovery Coalition (CFRC), a unified network of food rescue organizations empowered to share resources and expertise, foster partnerships, and amplify their civic power to alleviate food insecurity, reduce waste, and champion sustainability.

As a strong, collective voice for food recovery, the CFRC is positioned to advocate for impactful local and state legislation that addresses food insecurity and the environmental degradation caused by food waste entering landfills. The CFRC aims to elevate food recovery efforts by influencing legislation and securing support and sustained funding.

California produces half of all U.S. grown fruits and vegetables but one in six children in the state face food insecurity.  Equally troubling is the fact that Americans throw away nearly 40% of our food supply — nutritious food that could wipe out hunger three times over if it were rescued and delivered to those in need. The CFRC envisions a California where no one is food insecure, where nutritious surplus food is rescued and redistributed efficiently, and where food recovery organizations thrive with sustainable support.

WPE looks forward to the transformational actions of this unique collaboration! Stay tuned!
