White Pony Express closed out a phenomenal 2024 with our Star Program, donating an incredible 11,000 toys and winter clothing items to our neighbors and their families—which is more than double the number of items we distributed last year.
At the heart of the Star Program are the stars themselves, each representing a specific item requested by an adult or child seeking support during the holiday season. These stars are hand-decorated, often by our talented high school student volunteers, and displayed by businesses in creative and eye-catching ways. When individuals purchase the items listed on the stars, White Pony Express coordinates pick-up and delivery to ensure each gift reaches its intended recipient, bringing warmth and joy to those in need.

WPE operates a Food Rescue Program that picks up and delivers a daily average of 12,000 lbs. of surplus fresh food from grocery stores, produce markets, and restaurants. WPE distributes food to more than 100 nonprofit organizations that serve people who are hungry throughout Contra Costa County.
“We are so pleased to have raised these funds to support White Pony Express from our 5 stores,” said Caitlin Amthor, Marketing and Community Relations Lead at Whole Foods.
