Southern Comfort – Tyson Goddard

The curly blond you’ve seen in constant motion in WPE’s distribution center with the smooth southern drawl and knack for baked goods is our beloved Tyson. After working for an insurance company for nearly two decades, Tyson wanted to find a job that matched her passions and found a program administered by the city of Concord that provides paid volunteers to non-profits.

Tyson says she fell in love. “It was not just with the people but with the idea of what this place stands for. It just makes sense and is genius.” Being from the south, she believes that food connects people. “I was hungry as a child. I can totally relate to issue of food insecurity and what White Pony Express does is a beautiful thing.”

Tyson has worked at WPE for over a year and loves every minute of it. “When Mandy tells us the volunteer group from that day will be coming back because they were impressed by how the sorting room is run, I love that.”

“I have made connections with volunteers. They share their life with me and I share mine with them. This place is so special it is hard to put it into words but there is magic here.”

We think the magic she refers to is the love that’s shared by Tyson, our volunteers, partners, and the WPE community. After all, love is the most powerful force in the universe!
