Local Eagle Scout Leads Community Effort to Fight Hunger

After months of planning, San Ramon local Vidip Koppaka led a food drive for his Eagle Scout Project that made a meaningful impact in the fight against food insecurity in Contra Costa County. In partnership with WPE, he collected over 1,000 pounds of non-perishable food—surpassing his goal and providing the equivalent of 833 meals to hungry neighbors.

“I chose White Pony Express as the beneficiary I wanted to donate to because of their innovative approach to addressing hunger and food waste,” Vidip shared. “Their commitment to serving with love and their scalable, volunteer-powered model aligned perfectly with my desire to make a meaningful impact in our community.”

WPE’s mission is simple: to connect surplus and need so that all can share in the abundance of life. It is through grassroot partnerships like this that we build a community where everyone has access to the resources they need to thrive, providing nourishment and protecting the environment for future generations.

Vidip Koppaka’s leadership, empathy, and commitment to service provides an example for what youth activism looks like when guided by purpose and heart.
