“White Pony Express is built on the understanding that, in this beautiful world we share, love knows all, does all, and is the most powerful force in the universe.”
– Dr. Carol Weyland Conner, WPE Founder
1 in 4 Americans are skipping meals or relying on food donations. Balance this troubling statistic with the fact Americans throw away nearly 40% of our food supply—perfectly good food that could wipe out hunger in the U.S. three times over.
Food recovery organizations bridge abundance and need by diverting wholesome food from landfills to combat communal food insecurity. WPE’s food rescue program has expanded this model, subjecting all collected food to a meticulous culling process and promising the rescued food is obtained, sorted, and redistributed within 24 hours—seven days a week.
Our mission is to eliminate hunger and poverty by delivering the abundance to those in need—with love. A volunteer-powered 501(c)(3) organization, we serve 125,000 people each year through more than 90 nonprofit recipients.
Since our inception, WPE has rescued and delivered more than 26 million pounds of nutritious food—equal to 22 million meals—which prevented more than 31,000 tons of CO2 emissions from entering the air we breathe.
The strategic plan charts the course for White Pony Express as we continue to expand our reach and deepen our impact. The plan provides a framework for sustaining and enhancing services that will lead to a future where all have access to healthy food, and no one is left behind.
As a public benefit 501(c)(3) corporation, we believe financial transparency is critical for our communities, partners, and other stakeholders. If you have any questions about accounting or financial matters, please reach out to our Chief Operations Officer, Merry Dempsey.
The White Pony Express impact report illustrates how we have provided broader access to nutritious, fresh food to hundreds of thousands of neighbors; expanded to meet growing and changing needs; pivoted to provide essentials during disasters and crises; and formed partnerships to ensure our most vulnerable community members have what they need when they need it.
