White Pony Express often describes itself as the bridge between “surplus” and “not enough.” Board Member Francesca knows that bridge well.
As Director of Home Care at Hillendale Home Care, Francesca was drawn to food rescue because of its immediate, often unseen impact—especially on seniors.
“Food insecurity affects so many people, and it often goes unnoticed. WPE takes food that would go to waste and gets it to people who truly need it. It’s practical, immediate, and effective.”
She’s also inspired by WPE’s consistency.
“They show up every day. They don’t overcomplicate things—they get the work done.”
What surprised her most was discovering how much food already exists locally.
“The issue isn’t always lack—it’s logistics. Good food just needs to be redirected in time.”
Operating 364 days a year, WPE reflects values Francesca sees as essential.
